Comments
Comments: We hiked up for sunrise, which we missed as the summit was in the clouds. Very cold morning and quite windy above treeline. The road was well packed, as was the Eagle's Cut Trail. Sunset Ridge seemed to be packed out before we turned off. We went up Laura Cowles as it's more sheltered but boy is it steep! The snow was much looser on this trail with a couple icy spots underneath but not bad. Route is a bit challenging to follow above treeline as it all looks the same and difficult to distinguish between cairns and small trees - GPS map is helpful. Another guy did Sunset Ridge out and back and got up and down before us. A few others were heading up when we left. The conditions would be great for skiing up to the start of Sunset Ridge (and beyond if you have the skills). There is a lot of fresh snow up there (maybe close to 2 feet from this week).
