Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot is plowed - a glazed coating of ice over the frozen/plowed snow. Room for at least a dozen cars. Access roads were VERY rutted - it's like mud season has struck VT - I would NOT be comfortable without 4WD on any of the roads (dirt) leading to the trailhead - some of the ruts at least 6" deep

Comments
Comments: Perfect afternoon hike on my way back from an amazing morning at Bolton Valley Resort. Trail was super-firm - no need for snowshoes (and I *NEVER* say that!!!). Never felt the need for microspikes/traction though I had it in the pack. Views from the firetower were outstanding but I really had to face my fear of heights (which I thought I didn't have any more!!!) to climb the tower. No glass in tower but tower in good shape. Extensive views. Looking back, looking up at the tower - there were a lot of bullet holes in the tower cab (just sayin'). Wind whipping through the tower and the first few stairs were icy.
