Comments
Comments: Surprisingly dry trail conditions - what little mud there was, was easy to avoid on durable surfaces. There is a trail closed sign at the parking lot, but I think it refers to the Long Trail and not the trails up Snake. Hard to tell, to be honest, because the Long Trail is referenced explicitly but not the trails up Snake which is some 10 miles west of the Long Trail. Hiked up the West Trail, passing the Pond Summit Trail which is now closed until August 1 to protect nesting Peregrine Falcons, to the Summit Trail and Grand View Hotel Overlook. Nice view of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks. Continued along the Ridge Trail, which is kind of hard to follow and devolved into a quasi bushwhack around the bog on the north end of the mountain, then back down the way I'd come. Saw lots of deer and bear poop along the Ridge Trail. There's another trail up the East Side which I plan to hike in the future.
