|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Short section of trail near the beaver pond is flooded with a recent, small dam. Easy enough to walk over the dam or around. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The Town has several well built new trails at lower elevations but they do not have names yet. The unofficial trail from the beaver pond to the summit is in great shape as is a newer- looking trail across the ridge. The old fire wardens cabin is in sorry shape--a real varmint condo. |

Scrag Mountain ( north, middle & south summits)
I ascended from the town forest trailhead using a variety of the TF lower elevations trails (checking out the two waterfalls and the new trails to a lower knob) then up to the beaver pond at the town forest boundary then continued to the summit on the unofficial but maintained trail to the former fire tower site ( this is not the old fire wardens trail, BTW, which is mostly gone and used to run up from the north). I continued across the ridge past additional semi open ledges using a well maintained blue blazed\ blue flagged trail. From the south peak, the trail continued down the southeast shoulder, and I followed it for about 0.3 or so before turning back-- not sure where it pops out (Monti Road maybe?) or who is responsible for it. |
