Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Ran into a burly, aggressive off-leash dog. Would not let me pass and acted like it meant business--growled, lunged, charged me. Owner, who had no voice control, was some distance back and shouted to me--had no idea what they were saying over the barking ("my dog doesn't bite"? "don't move or my dog will rip out your jugular"?--no help). Eventually they caught up and held the dog. Still no leash. Their care-free off-leash romp in the woods clearly justifies the terror of other hikers.

Comments
Comments: Solo up Ascutney via Brownsville Trail. Lots of rock and bare ground patches below the ridgeline. Packed out reasonably well above the ridge, except for Slot Trail which was drifty. Some significant ice runs in places. Noticed some new signage and stringer bridges on the trail (thanks!). Trees are starting to eat several of the lower overlook viewpoints.
