| Comments: |
Multi-use trail (combination of carriage roads) had an awkwardly frozen base (courtesy barebooters during the thaw) with an inch or two of powder on top (more new powder up the road at elevation) and some drifting. I put on light snowshoes starting at the barn and kept them on roundtrip because of the traction and to ease the pain of the awkward frozen divots. Mountain snowshoes would be awkward. Some folks cross country skied higher up. Side trails are posted skis or snowshoes only. Woods seem to only have the new powder in a lot of places, but there were pockets of the frozen granular base from a few weeks ago.
Cloudy afternoon with temperatures in the 20s. |
