I was in the Lake Willoughby area today so decided to check out this cool little mountain with a cabin and fire tower, both open to the public. There was a good trench formed with a few inches of freshness, just perfect conditions for a quick stroll in snowshoes. The cabin was a great place to get out of the wind and have a snack. The tower is at least 40 feet high and has no glass or trapdoor, so it was pretty cold up there today. I couldn’t see very far since it was snowing, but it was still a nice view of the snowy treetops. 4 miles and 1,400 feet and 2.5 hours for the whole trip. Nice sunset from the iconic south beach on the lake on my way home. |
