Comments
Comments: we spotted a car at Jerusalem Trailhead, planning to hike up Battell Trail > north along the Long Trail over Mt Abraham then Mt Ellen > down Jerusalem Trail ... but decided to turn back after reaching Mt Abraham, as the Long Trail didn't show evidence of recent foot traffic, and we knew from former hikes that the Long Trail's faded blazes can be tough to follow in Winter ... soft snow drifts north of Mt Abraham were a few feet thick ... we could have forged our path to Mt Ellen, or we could still be up there ... we played it safe ...

Battell Trail up to Battell Shelter, and Long Trail up to Mt Abraham, were well packed ... microspikes were perfect for traction, carried snowshoes for no apparent reason (won't need them until we get more snow, or unless you're hiking on the Long Trail between Mt Abraham and Mt Ellen) ... walked up Jerusalem Trail from the trailhead a bit to scout conditions, trail was well broken out similar to Battell Trail, and there was a vehicle parked at Jerusalem Trailhead when we arrived, with fresh microspiked tracks heading up, so pretty good chance that Jerusalem Trail to Long Trail to Mt Ellen could be broken out as well ?
