A FINE way to end the marathon weekend in Vermont. This brings me to 98/100 Winter 100. Much to my delight, the trail was a super highway of packed powder, until it wasn't. Still need your shoes car to car for efficiency. No issues until the last switchback at the ski trail, of which you need to ascent the ski trail about 50ft and pop back in the woods for the hiking trail. It is absolute carnage in this area with a score of diverging trails. I followed a snowshoe track that followed the trail, until it randomly abruptly stopped. I broke from here to the cabin, and then from the cabin to the summit more or less. I decided to take the ski trails down a bit to avoid the absolute wasteland I had just left. I figured if you're descending a black diamond with light cover and moguls, you can avoid me on the extreme edge of the trail. I cut back it at the last switchback, utilizing the trail for the remainder of the day. A fine way to end the weekend. |
