Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: As soon as you leave Rutland (crest Notch Road) the roads are decently iced covered and essentially 1 lane. If you face up to another vehicle you will (or them) will most likely have to back up a bit. Be prepared. Driving north out of parking lot (Wheelerville Rd) widened out quickly and drive out is much 'flatter'--would be my choice route in and out if I drive there again in winter months. Parking lot had plenty of space

Comments
Comments: My first VT winter 4k'er hike and I may have missed a local rule that snow shoes are (possibly???) illegal in the Green Mountains:)

Complete mash potato, post holed mess up Bucklin until the trail starts to level off about a half mile from the summit. Appeared they were skiers walking up and they might have turned around to ski down at that point--although from where the post holed mess stopped I saw no visible ski tracks. Easy climb until the summit cone. Had to 'whack around a bit and side hill it until I found the path up through the shrub firs. Absolutely loads of snow from just under the cabin to the top...I imagine from snow making getting blown over the top. Lots of skiers on the summit. A few hanging out on top of the cabin as well.

Post was mostly for road 'awareness' for out of area folks possibly driving in as I had to look back a bit to find another report from deep winter months. Doable from Rutland but definitely very slow going.
