Comments
Comments: Finding the Healdville Trail to Ludlow Mountain closed for logging, I switched gears and did this instead. Started/ended at the Buttermilk Falls trailhead. Crossed the falls, ascended briefly along part of the Catamount Trail thence along a southeast descending ridge to the east summit, and along the ridge to the high point where there was a register jar left there by the usual perpetrator. Last entry was 2023. Signed in. Nice view north toward Salt Ash Mtn from an opening on the N side of the summit. Continued along the ridge skirting a mountaintop off grid chalet, to a ledge view toward Ludlow Mtn. Backtracked a bit, descended diagonally to a point further up the brook, thence along a skid trail next to the brook, crossed both old highway bridges on the Buttermilk trail system, and returned to the parking area. Snow was crusted HARD; I walked on top of it the entire way in snowshoes, barely making a dent in it. Buttermilk Falls trail network was packed out, as was part of Catamount.
