Comments
Comments: Solo up to the north summit of Quimby Mountain (one of the two high points with a 2,640' highest contour). Up via the A.T. northbound to summit, backtracked 0.3 and hiked down via a snowmobile trail & woods road to within 0.4 or so of the trailhead. Spikes, bare boots, snowshoes, bare boots, snowshoes, bare boots--snow was everything from none to thin to patchy to thick. Across the ridge it was consistent and deep in places and I was glad I brought the snowshoes. Snowmobile trail and woods road on descent were compacted enough to walk on top with bare boots. Lots of water running off the mountain. No sign anyone had been up there recently.
