 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking lot for WMT can hold about 12-18 cars; looks like it has a new gravel surface. Space off wheeler mtn road at the MMT can hold 4-5 cars. |

Rock Hops, Bridge at start of Moose Mtn Trail |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails in fantastic shape. One step over and one duck under on WMT before west peak, between the peaks there are about 3-4 smaller trees down that can be stepped over or around. Trail maintainer Kathy was on the MMT working to spruce up the trail for this seasons visitors. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Easy gradual trails that most pups can probably handle. Some water at lower elevations is good for drinking. However, I am not sure about taking most pups on the ledges on Wheeler Mtn. They drop off quite quickly and location the trail goes along the ledge for 6-8 feet. |
|
 | Bugs: |
None for me, but the trail maintainer for MMT had full netting and said they were terrible; I believe that was because she was busy clearing the trails and hence moving slower. At higher elevations the wind helped keep them away. |

Wasn't sure of the weather, so decided to head north to grab these hills in the NEK. Almost no one else out on these fantastic gradual trails today. The painted trilliums were the big show stopper at lower elevations, while at higher elevations (between wheeler peaks), the forest floor was covered with trout lilies, spring beauty and purple trillium, with a few other wildflowers thrown in. Three are a few spots with some minor mud that is easy to get around, other than that the trails are dry. The ledges up to Wheeler were also dry today, not sure if I would want to tackle them in the rain. It is pretty cool to see the ledges to the east after entering the forest and hiking the lower trails. Views from Wheeler ledges were great; no summit views. |
