I had biked on this rough road years ago but never went to the summit. (There are 2 summits with prominence.) Late this afternoon I walked the road, following the atv signs. It’s a loose gravel road, not grassy, so no issue with ticks. After a half mile, a road branches off west and departs from the one shown on Gaia. I took this road to the saddle between the south peak and larger main peak. Just as it started downhill I began my short bushwhack to the south peak, but it was on ancient skidder paths with some low ferns and such, hardly a bushwhack. I searched all over but didn’t find a register. Turned around and went back the same way. I didn’t see any roads going towards the main peak, only ancient skidder paths, which I will return to explore another day. Besides the deer flies, it was a very nice walk/ run back down the road. |
