 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Access to the Long trail is from a lot on VT 15 heading west on VT 15 for about 2.5 miles form Johnson. Room for 10 cars; I was the only one in the lot today. There is also parking off Hogback road near where the Long trail crosses which will cut about a mile round trip but you'll miss the suspension bridge across the Lamoille River |

A short 3 mile out and back on the long trail. Note the trail runs along the edge of a field for a short distance before heading into the woods. The trail include a nice woods walk that take you past some impressive rock cliffs before descending the the river. Lots of places to hang out at the river for those that would like to do so. The side branch of the Lamoille river was dry today. The suspension bridge across the main river provides some good views up and down the river. After crossing Hogback road, the trail shifts between somewhat steep sections and flat sections. The final spur trail up to prosect Rock is an easy road walk up; an older steep access trail has been closed. Nice views of the river and up and down the Lamoille Valley from the top. A nice short hike to a fine view. |
