 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
It's been many years since I've hiked this peak via the Long Trail. The parking has changed completely and it took us a few minutes to figure it out as I was using an outdated guidebook. Parking is at the entrance to the Stowe Ski Area to the right as you drive in. Once you park, you cross Rt. 108 to Barnes Camp with some volunteers on hand to answer any questions you may have. You start on walking on elevated boardwalks through wetlands and you eventually cross Rt. 108 once more to begin the hike. This new parking area had plenty of parking when we got there at 9AM and still the same at 3:30PM. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Not an issue. We've been having a dry spell. The water source at Taft Lodge for drinking was very low and not running very well...pump filter would be best. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Not recommended for dogs due to the scrambling after Taft Lodge with lots of sharp rock (rips through paw pads). |
|
 | Bugs: |
Not too bad. There were some annoying ones on the summit though. |
