Good track up to the cabin, somewhat blurred by ski tracks but well blazed. Above here tracks go straight up to Eagle Pass and the steepest route to the Chin. I angled left up toward Profanity, expect no trail up high, you have to feel your way, snowshoes recommended. Fresh snow overnight, 3" low to 6" higher. Although the top was in a blue sky when I strated, fog came over the ridge about 10:30 and stayed thru the midday, cutting visibility to near white-out. A reminder how fast things can change. After the Chin I came back down Profanity gully and across the traverse bushwhack to Eagle Pass and the Adam's Apple (4,060') and dropped back down the L.T.
Nice mountaineering today with a few tenacious folks topping out. winds about 10 mph, temps teens on the summit @ 11 a.m. Started clearing as I reached the car. Lots of fun anyway. |
