 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The middle section of the West Ridge Trail is heavily overgrown with fern and hobblebush - you can't see your feet and need to carry trekking poles above your head. There's one really large blowdown on the Bald Mtn Trail, just within the wilderness boundary. |

 | Comments: |
The West Ridge Trail has a reputation for being dry but there are two springs within a mile west of the Goddard shelter that do have water. You will need patience and a hard-sided scoop or small cup to collect the water. This fact may also be of use for LT hikers who realize that there are no trustworthy and non-seasonal water sources within a mile (or more) of the Goddard Shelter. |
