Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The middle section of the West Ridge Trail is heavily overgrown with fern and hobblebush - you can't see your feet and need to carry trekking poles above your head. There's one really large blowdown on the Bald Mtn Trail, just within the wilderness boundary.

Comments
Comments: The West Ridge Trail has a reputation for being dry but there are two springs within a mile west of the Goddard shelter that do have water. You will need patience and a hard-sided scoop or small cup to collect the water. This fact may also be of use for LT hikers who realize that there are no trustworthy and non-seasonal water sources within a mile (or more) of the Goddard Shelter.
