Have never seen this trail change as much as in last 30 hours (11:00 A.M. on 3-18 to 5:00 P.M. on 3-18). Almost like late winter conditions to late spring conditions in one day. Mix of bare trail, mud, breakable crust, slight monorail, slick wet ice. Wore a worn set of micospikes for use on bare rock, ice, sticky snow etc.. Much slick ice in tower section so used the bypass around the worst section. Obviously changing day to day. 49th winter hike here this season. So envious of all the hiking and conditions over in NH this winter but saved lots of gas $$ by staying in backyard. Hope to get back over soon! |
