I hiked mid-afternoon. Made it to about 2900' in the muck and the slush, which I did not enjoy - love tromping around in firm, winter snow, but not in this stuff. A bit past the sinkholes, a muddy mess from waist down, I bailed. On the way down, parts of the trail which had been snowy on ascent were drier. This trail will probably be fine in a few days.
Spikes would have been useless as far as I went, but might have been helpful above 3300' or so, where it probably firmed up. |
