Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I parked at 2000’ on a logging road NE of the peaks, just before a gate. South America Pond Rd is in great shape for 35 mph, but turning off on this road I slowed to 10 mph and it was quite lumpy. There is active logging going on but nobody was around on a Saturday.

Comments
Comments: I made a lollipop loop of these two New England 3000 footers. I’d already done the South Peak back in June so skipped that and made a straight line from East to North peak. It was beautiful up high on the summits with the ferns starting to turn orange and wide open lanes to walk. On the lower slopes the hobblebush was expansive and pretty gnarly, tall and thick. You have to step on top of it rather than just push through it, which can be awkward, hence the name hobblebush. There were also some sections of good open woods. Luckily no recent logging where I was hiking. I made great time, 2:45 for 5.7 miles and 1500’.
